URBINO

In the second half of the 15th century Urbino was the venue of one of the most important courts of Europe. Here Federico da Montefeltro gathered the most important painters, writers and erudites of the time.
Urbino is one of the most important cities of the Marche. Who arrives from Arezzo, can have a first amazing panoramic view of this town.  Soon after you can see the twin towers of Palazzo Ducale.
Palazzo Ducale is really huge and all was built according to the needs of the people that had to live there. The most particular room of the palace is the “Studiolo” (studio) of the duke. It was completely decorated with inlaid panels based on the Trompe d’oil technique; some of them were made according to the designs of Botticelli.
Anyway, in order to get an outline of both the palace and its organizational structure, you should  visit its rooms, stores, kitchens, laundries, stables, places to keep the food,  underpasses and cellars.
