THE SIBILLINI MOUNTAINS

This area takes its name from a legend, according to which one of the Sibille hid herself in a cave of Mount Sibilla, better known as “Grotta delle Fate” (Fairy Caves), as she was driven out from Hell.
This big mountain chain stands in the south of the Marche and includes one the highest mountains of this region, Monte Vettore (2.476 m.). Moreover, the Sibillini Mountains are one of the most beautiful landscapes of this area.
