Cingoly is a windy town on a hill. When in the nearby towns it is dark, Cingoli is still lighted by the sun. “It is not night at Cingoli yet” goes a popular Marche saying, meaning “don't count your chickens before they're hatched”.
Thanks to its wide panoramic view on the surrounding landscape, Cingoli has also gained the title of “Balcony of the Marche”. The best view is from behind the church of San Francesco. Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, once the forum of Roman Cingoli, is still the heart of the town.
