Ascoli Piceno is one of the most important cities in the south of the Marche and you can easily visit it in just one day.
The city is not so big and you can visit its centre on foot. Piazza del Popolo is the main square; it was completely tiled with travertin and with no doubts it is one of the most elegant squares of Italy.
Palazzo del Popolo is situated on a side of the square which was built in the 13th century. On the other side of the same square there is the gothic church of San Francesco. In addition to this there is another important square, Piazza Arrigo, which is flanked both by the Dome and the Palazzo Comunale.
In the Dome you can see the beautiful work “La Madonna con i Santi” made by Crivelli.
